TROPICAL ATMOSPHERE<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Not only the famous British author Terry Pratchett had a crush on the orangutans, but also the numerous visitors to the Erlebniswelt ZOOM Gelsenkirchen enjoy them. The oldest primates in the history of the tribe not only delight the guests on site, but can also be watched enthusiastically in the docu-soap “Tierische Kumpels” (Animal Buddies) in the ZDF media library together with the many other inhabitants of Erlebniswelt ZOOM Gelsenkirchen.<\/p>\n

To ensure that nothing can happen to the orangutans and also to prevent them from escaping, the zoo managers decided to extensively encase the entire orangutan enclosure with the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh.<\/p>\n

ORANG-UTANS AND HANUMAN LANGURS SAFELY THROUGH THE X-TEND<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Splashing fountains, dense ferns and foliage and shelters against the effects of wind and weather – the orangutans in the Asia Hall of Erlebniswelt ZOOM Gelsenkirchen can enjoy all this, as can the Hanuman langurs. These slender apes live all over the Indian subcontinent – from Pakistan via Sri Lanka and India to the foothills of the Himalayas.<\/p>\n

Those who not only want to wave at the monkeys through the X-TEND stainless steel cable net by CARL STAHL ARCHITEKTUR, but also want to observe other animals, can also view tigers, camels, sea lions, moose, tree spines, zebras and, of course, the royal lions, among others, in the ZOOM Gelsenkirchen adventure world.<\/p>\n

ORANG-UTANS LOVE TO PLAY<\/strong><\/h3>\n

More than 1,300 m\u00b2 of X-TEND stainless steel cable net was stretched over the orangutan enclosure. A mesh size of 100 millimetres ensures that both the apes cannot get out and the visitors cannot get in. Orangutans are among the strongest primates in the world. To prevent them from simply tearing the net, the rope is a reassuring three millimetres thick.<\/p>\n

The great apes at Erlebniswelt ZOOM Gelsenkirchen not only have plenty of opportunities to let off steam inside their enclosure. The clever animals also like to use the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh extensively in their games.<\/p>\n
